2017 Cabernet Sauv

The Red Gate 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is selected from our finest barrels, this full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon is deep ruby in colour with a fragrant array of blackberry pastels, ripe blood plums and hints of chocolate and peppermint on the bouquet. The palate is a delicious fusion of ripe blackberry, dark plums, subtle oak profile, fine, velvety tannins with a persistent depth at the finish.

Halliday comments: Bay leaf and sage kick this off, meandering along a vein of nicely wrought astringency. This is an expansive, full-weighted wine, knit with bitter chocolate, cassis and rum and raisin flavours, set up for for mid-term drinking. Despite the heady alcohol (14.4%), it manages to hold a pose of herbal restraint.
