3drops Pinot Noir

Light red in color, 3drops 2023 Great Southern Pinot Noir has an elegant nose of wild strawberries, red currants, and an underlying hint of savouriness. On the palate, it’s elegant but succulent with a fine tannin structure, smooth and creamy texture, and a lively spiciness on the finish. The high-quality French oak is in the background and integrates beautifully with the fine tannin structure.

Ready to drink now, or you can cellar it over the next 8-10 years to further develop the typical earthy flavours which are a characteristic of Pinot Noir.

 

3drops Chardonnay

The 2022 vintage has an appealing and complex nose with rich fruit characters of peaches and nectarine, combined with mealy notes, grilled nuts, and well-integrated French oak.

The palate shows a great balance between a rich stone fruit and lemon edge feel. It’s a fruit forward style of Chardonnay with the fruit being pulled into line nicely by the acid structure. This 3drops cool climate Chardonnay is ready to drink now, or it can be aged over the coming 7-8 years to develop further complexity.

We suggest teaming our Chardonnay up with raw and lightly cooked seafood (sushi and sashimi would be a great option), roast chicken or quite simply a cheese board.

3drops Winery is located Southwest of Mount Barker in the heart of the acclaimed Great Southern wine region of Western Australia, vines and olive trees flourish side by side in the cool, pristine climate.

Blessed with a Mediterranean climate featuring warm summer days and cool nights, complemented by gravelly loam soils, the 3drops vineyards boast a distinctive terroir. In 1999, eight hectares of vines were meticulously planted at Wragg Road, Mount Barker, encompassing varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz.

To diversify the predominantly red vineyard, an additional 6.5 hectares were planted in 2002, introducing Riesling, Chardonnay, Semillon, and Nebbiolo.

In May 2006, the acquisition of the adjacent 6-hectare Patterson’s vineyard marked a significant expansion of 3drops’ viticultural holdings, increasing its size by 50 percent. Originally planted in 1982, Patterson’s vineyard boasts valuable aged vines yielding Chardonnay, Shiraz, and Pinot Noir grapes.

Under the meticulous management of viticulturist Ray Williams, and guided by the expertise of winemaker Rob Diletti of Castle Rock, all wines produced at 3drops are a testament to the dedication and passion invested in every aspect of the winemaking process.
