Deep Woods

G5 Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Deep Woods ‘G5’ Cabernet

The 2022 vintage in Margaret River was truly exceptional. A wet spring and late flowering set the season off to a perfect start, followed by a warm and dry growing period that produced wines of refined flavour, great elegance, and real personality.

The Deep Woods single vineyard wines highlight the diversity of Margaret River’s distinct subregions. This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Gunyulgup Block 5 Vineyard in the Yallingup Hills, in the far north of Margaret River. Planted with old vines on deep gravel loams, the east-facing slope captures the morning sun, resulting in wines of remarkable balance and intensity.

Deep red with purple hues, the wine shows intense aromas of redcurrant, cassis, and wild berry fruit, merging with notes of cedary oak and bay leaf. The palate is incredibly long and persistent, opening with flavours of blackcurrant, red earth, and moss. A saline freshness and savoury edge add complexity to the wine’s enticing profile.

Delicious to drink now, it will reward careful cellaring until 2035.

Learn More About Deep Woods Estate …

Deep Woods Winery is situated in the heart of the Yallingup rolling hills within Margaret River, perched atop a ridge that offers panoramic views of the valley, enveloped by majestic jarrah and marri trees. The terroir of this location is truly unique; characterized by deep, sandy gravels overlaying clay, and influenced by the Indian Ocean and Great Southern Ocean. We take immense pride in being part of this esteemed wine region.

Since becoming a part of the Fogarty Wine Group in 2005, our vineyards have undergone revitalization, implementing a sustainable maintenance program aimed at enhancing fruit quality and yielding smaller, yet superior crops. It is with great pride that we announce our vineyards have been certified sustainable under Sustainable Winegrowing Australia as of 2024. This commitment to sustainability has resulted in exceptional fruit and the production of premium wines, including award-winning Cabernet and Chardonnay, crafted in limited batches on-site.
