Appearance
Pale straw with green highlights.

Aromatics
Fresh lemon and green apple with a gentle tropical lift. Subtle notes of tarragon and savoury garden characters add interest, with a faint green almond nuance in the background.

Palate
Light bodied and refreshing. Crisp citrus and green apple flavours carry through with a slick, clean texture and a tiny touch of grip that gives it shape. Finishes dry and bright, making it an ideal “second glass” white.

Finish
Citrus driven, clean and mouth watering.

The Variety

Müller Thurgau was first developed in Germany and is now known as a fragrant, approachable white grape with Riesling in its family line. It tends to be softer and more fruit forward than Riesling, with bright aromatics and an easy, friendly palate. That is exactly why it works so well in Mount Barker’s cool climate.

Vineyard and Vintage 🌱

Vineyard
Galafrey’s Mount Barker vineyard is dry grown, low yielding and planted on ancient gravelly loams. Without irrigation, the vines produce smaller berries with concentrated flavour, and the cool Great Southern conditions help retain freshness and clarity.

Vintage 2024
An early season with dry conditions and heat events resulted in lower yields but strong fruit intensity. Careful picking decisions were key to preserving the bright, fruit driven Müller Thurgau style.

Winemaking 🍷

Made in a similar way to Riesling, with a strong focus on picking at the right moment to capture flavour while keeping the wine fresh. The fruit is fermented in stainless steel and bottled within six months to lock in vibrancy and aroma.
