Textural | Refined | Small-Batch Craftsmanship

The Myattsfield Chardonnay 2024 is a beautifully composed modern Chardonnay that brings together texture, freshness and detail in equal measure. Sourced from cool-climate fruit grown in the Chittering Valley and Chidlow, this is a dry, layered white that shows how thoughtful winemaking can build complexity without losing clarity or drinkability.

The 2024 release combines several carefully chosen techniques to shape both aroma and palate. Wild fermentation in French oak and ceramic eggs adds texture and complexity, while lees stirring contributes extra roundness and flow through the mid-palate. At the same time, the fruit remains bright and precise, with notes of nectarine, white peach, grapefruit and subtle tropical lift carrying the wine from start to finish. This is not a heavy or overly buttery Chardonnay. Instead, it leans into finesse, structure and balance, with enough richness to satisfy Chardonnay lovers while still finishing dry and focused. It is a wine that feels polished and expressive now, yet also serious enough to impress at the table, especially alongside seafood, roast chicken or creamy vegetable dishes.

Tasting Notes

The 2024 Myattsfield Chardonnay is a beautifully crafted wine with elegant aromatics of nectarine and white peach, creating a fragrant and enticing nose. On the palate, it offers a round texture, with the freshness of grapefruit, passionfruit, and citrus, layered over a foundation of cashew and lemon curd. The wine’s complexity is enhanced by a delicate touch of oak seasoning, which adds a soft buttery character. With its long, clean finish, it’s a Chardonnay that is as vibrant as it is refined.

Accolades 🏆

🔹Ray Jordan (93 points):This is a rich, textured, and highly flavoursome chardonnay. After handpicking, it was fermented in a mix of new French oak, ceramic egg, and stainless steel, with regular lees stirring after the ferment. Loads of ripe nectarine and creamy stone fruit on the nose, and a palate that delivers richness and texture with slightly roasted cashew and bright nectarine edginess. Perfectly balanced and poised.

Food Pairing Suggestions

  • Seafood: A classic match for grilled prawns, seared scallops, or a lobster bisque, where the wine’s citrus notes complement the sweetness of the seafood.
  • Poultry: Enjoy with roasted chicken, particularly dishes with lemon and herbs or a roast chicken with butter and garlic.
  • Soft Cheeses: Pair it with creamy cheeses like brie, camembert, or a goat cheese salad for a delightful contrast of textures and flavours.
  • Vegetarian Dishes: It also pairs beautifully with dishes such as a mushroom risotto, grilled asparagus, or a creamy pasta.

Best Serving Temp

Serve at 10°C – 12°C to highlight the wine’s freshness and elegance while allowing the fruit and oak notes to shine.

This Chardonnay doesn’t necessarily need decanting, but if you prefer to open it early, consider decanting for 60 minutes to allow its complex flavours to evolve and soften.
