FAQ – Prosecco & Winemaking Terms Explained

Q: How is Prosecco different from Champagne?
A: Prosecco is typically made using the Charmat method (tank fermentation), preserving fruitiness and freshness. Champagne undergoes bottle fermentation, giving it more yeasty, toasty notes.

Q: What does “dry” mean on a Prosecco label?
A: Despite sounding sweet, “dry” Prosecco is actually crisp and lower in sugar—expect a clean, refreshing finish with no noticeable sweetness.

Q: Why is Pemberton a good region for Prosecco?
A: Its cool climate helps grapes retain acidity and freshness, while the deep soils encourage healthy vine development—perfect for crisp, elegant sparkling styles.

Meet the Makers: The Radomiljac Family

For over 60 years, the Radomiljac family has been the heart and soul of Pemberley, playing a significant role in the region’s food and agricultural industries. In the 1960s, Charlie and Joan Radomiljac purchased the original 203-hectare property, where they raised eight children while cultivating legumes, potatoes, and fruit. They also managed livestock, operated a dairy, and even ran a restaurant and catering business in nearby Pemberton.

As Charlie and Joan looked towards retirement in the 1990s, their son David and his wife Monica turned their focus to an emerging industry—wine. Taking a leap of faith, they established vineyards in the rich Pemberton soil, confident that the region’s climate and terroir would produce exceptional wines. Their dedication and passion have since cemented Pemberley’s reputation as a leading name in premium cool-climate wines.
