Dry ~ Tropical ~ Old Vines

Sourced from old vines in the Swan Valley, the 2023 RiverBank Verdelho delivers an energetic, fruit-forward expression of this classic Western Australian white. It is bright and lively now, yet built with the texture and drive that will evolve gracefully with time. A wine that bursts with sunshine, fruit purity and regional character, this young Verdelho is hard to put down.

Why You’ll Love It ❤️

  • 🍈 Lively aromatics – nectarine, guava, and tropical fruit with citrus lift
  • 🥭 Bursting with fruit – mango and guava on a long, fresh finish
  • 🌿 Old vine intensity – concentration and balance from mature Swan Valley vines
  • 🌞 Vibrant now, promising more – crisp and expressive in youth, but will gain depth with age, can be cellared for 10 years.
  • 🍷 Authentic Swan Valley style – generous fruit, balanced acidity and approachability

Accolades

Ray Jordan93 Pts

“You can clearly see the link between this young verdelho and the mature release 2017, which has also come out this year. This one’s just bursting with lovely fruit qualities. There are some nice nectarine and guava characters, with plenty of tropical fruit complexity. It’s quite fine at the moment and holding things pretty close, but it will continue to develop into a lovely mature wine. Hard to put down now!”

Tasting Notes 🍇

  • Colour: Pale straw with youthful green hues
  • Aromatics: Ripe nectarine, guava, and fresh tropical fruit aromas with hints of honeysuckle
  • Palate: Juicy flavours of mango and guava unfold over a refreshing backbone of acidity. Fine texture and balance carry through to a lingering finish that embodies the warmth and richness of the Swan Valley.

Winemaker’s Note

“This Verdelho captures everything we love about the Swan Valley—generous tropical fruit, natural vibrancy, and the ability to evolve beautifully in bottle. It’s pure sunshine in a glass.”

FAQ Wine Terms 🧐

Why does old vine fruit matter?
Older vines produce smaller yields of highly concentrated fruit, resulting in wines with greater depth, flavour and natural balance.

How does Swan Valley Verdelho differ from Margaret River white wines?
Swan Valley Verdelho tends to be richer and more tropical, with luscious fruit weight, while Margaret River whites lean towards leaner citrus and minerality.

Can Verdelho age?
Absolutely—young examples are vibrant and fresh, while aged Verdelho (like RiverBank’s 2017 release) develops honeyed, nutty complexity over time.
