Riverbank Rebellious Tempranillo
RiverBank Estate was first planted on the fertile banks of the Swan River in 1988 and has grown to encompass nearly thirty acres of mature, low-yielding vines, producing exceptional fruit that is lovingly handcrafted into premium, regional, varietal wines, vinified and bottled on-site.
The 2020 Riverbank Tempranillo is crafted in the heart of the Swan Valley, with a touch of Shiraz, it offers a bold yet refined expression of the region’s character and winemaking expertise.
A vibrant deep ruby with garnet edges, this wine displays both richness and youthful allure in the glass.
The nose opens with ripe black cherry and dark plum aromas, layered with hints of tobacco, cocoa, and a touch of sweet vanilla from oak maturation. The Shiraz component adds a subtle and delicate lift of black pepper spice and subtle dried herbs, enhancing the aromatic complexity.
On the palate, juicy dark berries, fig, and savoury earthy notes are front and centre, typical of Tempranillo’s signature profile. The Shiraz contributes an appealing peppery edge and a touch of bright red fruit. Fine, velvety tannins create a structured yet supple mouthfeel, while balanced acidity brings freshness. The finish lingers with hints of mocha, spice, and gentle oak.
This versatile wine pairs beautifully with slow-cooked lamb shanks, chorizo and Manchego, or roasted vegetable dishes like stuffed capsicum or mushroom risotto. Serve slightly chilled during warmer weather or at room temperature to showcase its depth and complexity.
