The Singlefile Single Vineyard Frankland River Cabernet Sauvignon of 2023 is a beautifully composed cool-climate Cabernet that shows why Frankland River continues to build such a strong reputation for finely structured reds. Sourced from a single vineyard within this respected Great Southern sub-region, it brings together dark fruit intensity, savoury structure and a more polished, medium- to full-bodied feel than many heavier Cabernet styles. Aromatically, it opens with blueberry, mulberry, cassis and dark plum, supported by gentle oak and a subtle ironstone-like savoury edge. On the palate, the fruit is plush and mouth-filling, but never loose, with fine-grained tannins and crisp acidity carrying the wine through to a long, poised finish.

What makes the Singlefile Single Vineyard Frankland River Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 especially appealing is its balance of generosity and restraint. The 2023 season delivered mild, dry conditions through the key ripening months, and the wine was handled with a gentle, extended maceration before spending fourteen months in Bordeaux barriques, including a portion of new oak. The result is a Cabernet with real regional definition, immediate drinking appeal and the structure to reward a few years in the cellar.

Vintage Conditions:

The winter saw average rainfall that continued into early spring. Summer was dry and mild with even temperatures throughout February, March and April. This provided perfect conditions to achieve optimal ripeness, and the desired tannin profile for premium cabernet sauvignon.

The fruit was picked and sorted in late-April 2023. It was cold soaked in a small fermenter for two days before undergoing a gentle and extended maceration. After the fermentation, the wine was left on skins for 21 days. Thirty percent of the wine was matured in new Bordeaux oak barriques. The balance went to one-year old (30%) and two-year old (40%) Bordeaux barriques for fourteen months before the wine was then prepared for bottling.
