About Ashbrook Estate
Ashbrook Estate is a long-established Margaret River winery founded by the Devitt family in 1975. Based in Wilyabrup, in the heart of the Margaret River region, Ashbrook remains family owned and operated and is now into its third generation. The estate produced its first commercial wine in 1979 and has built a reputation over decades for careful vineyard work, handpicked fruit and estate-controlled winemaking.
A Long-Standing Margaret River Family Winery
Ashbrook’s longevity matters. In a region full of famous names, Ashbrook stands out as a genuine family estate with deep roots and a clear sense of style. The winery has long focused on premium handcrafted varietal wines, with all grapes handpicked and grown on the estate, and production kept closely controlled on site.
What Ashbrook Wines Are Known For
Ashbrook has earned recognition across a broad range of wines, especially aromatic and refined white wines as well as classic Margaret River reds. The winery’s official accolade history includes strong results for Verdelho, Chardonnay, Semillon, Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Chardonnay. That breadth gives confidence that this is not a one-hit winery, but a consistent producer with serious depth.
Estate-Grown Wines from Wilyabrup
Wilyabrup is one of Margaret River’s most respected sub-regions, and Ashbrook benefits from being based right in this prized part of the region. The estate draws on Margaret River’s mild maritime influence and gravelly loam soils, helping produce wines with purity, structure and balance.
Ashbrook Wine Style
If you enjoy wines that are elegant rather than overblown, Ashbrook is worth your attention. The style is best described as classic Margaret River: balanced, food-friendly, varietally expressive and built with a sense of restraint. It is the sort of winery that appeals to people who value substance, regional expression and consistency over marketing noise.
