Amelia Park Wines Reserve Shiraz

The 2019 Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz is Sourced from a single vineyard in the Frankland River Region, this Shiraz captures the distinctive ferrous-ironstone character of the area, adding depth to its muscular yet succulent fruit. The Frankland River Region’s climate is perfectly suited for producing a variety of red and white wines, characterised by low vigour and moderate ripening conditions. This extended ripening period results in beautifully balanced wines with great natural acidity and finesse. The Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz embodies these qualities, making it an excellent choice for both current enjoyment and future cellaring.

The meticulous winemaking process includes handpicking the grapes, incorporating 15% whole bunches, and allowing a month of skin contact to enhance flavour.

The Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz of 2019 has a captivating bouquet of mulberries, liquorice, and black cherry that immediately draws you in.

On the palate, this Shiraz offers a delightful softness, showcasing ripe mulberry, blackberry, luscious black cherry and plum. A Shiraz which presents excellent line and length, with velvety tannins and subtle notes of black pepper and spice.  Aged in French oak for eighteen months—40% of which is new—this Shiraz boasts fantastic cellaring potential, promising increased complexity over time.

Review:
Hand picked, 15% whole bunches, on skins for a month, matured in French oak for 18 months (40% new). Frankland River’s ferrous-ironstone character that underpins the muscular but succulent fruit is key to the region’s success, adding an extra dimension of complexity to the shiraz grown here. So it goes, for this wine. Graphite tannins encase the mulberry, blackberry and roasted pomegranate fruit, while the undertow of regionality carries the wine across the tongue.
