Magpie Hill Shiraz 2021

Duke’s Vineyard Magpie Hill Shiraz 2021

The Dukes Vineyard Magpie Hill Reserve Shiraz 2021 is a standout example of Western Australia’s Shiraz excellence. Crafted from fruit grown at the highest point of the vineyard, this wine presents superb balance and richness. Its deep crimson colour, with dark cherry edges, hints at the wine’s depth and complexity.

The nose is a treat for the senses, offering a complex array of aromas including dark forest berries like mulberry and blackberry, blood plum, and hoisin sauce. You’ll also notice roasted cardamom, peppercorns, a touch of cedar smoke, salted liquorice, dried violets, and dark chocolate, making for an engaging and multi-layered bouquet.

On the palate, this Shiraz delivers a burst of juicy mulberry, blackberry, and salted plum flavours. The tannins are smooth and elegant, while a fresh acid core provides a lively feel and impressive length. Balanced with a sprinkle of spices and dried herbs, and a perfectly integrated French oak, it finishes seamlessly and smoothly.

This Magpie Hill Shiraz pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes. It complements grilled meats such as lamb or beef, and is a great match for hearty dishes like beef stew or a rich mushroom risotto. It also goes well with robust cheeses, making it a versatile choice for a range of meals. Enjoy it now for its ripe, generous profile, or cellar it for added complexity over the years.
