Ferngrove Wines Aromatic Riesling

The Ferngrove Wines Aromatic Riesling 2019 is a wine designed to challenge and excite, pushing the boundaries of what an off-dry Riesling can be. With its striking balance of residual sweetness, low alcohol, and natural acidity, this wine offers a unique experience. A touch of light, persistent bubbles adds a foamy texture that enhances its refreshing character, making it a perfect choice for those seeking something both complex and invigorating.

On the nose, the wine bursts with bright, fragrant citrus blossom, complemented by floral notes and the zesty aroma of lime fruit. This lively bouquet sets the stage for a delicate, citrus-dominant palate that delivers a burst of fresh, tangy flavours. The natural acidity is crisp and clean, providing a refreshing lift, while the wine’s balanced sweetness ensures a harmonious, rounded mouthfeel. A subtle spritz dances across the tongue, adding to the wine’s light, effervescent finish and leaving a lingering sense of freshness.

The 2019 Ferngrove Aromatic Riesling is an ideal partner for food, especially when paired with spicy dishes. Its balanced sweetness and refreshing acidity make it an excellent match for bold, flavoursome cuisines, such as Thai, Indian, or Mexican, where the wine can complement and elevate the heat and spice in the food.

This Riesling is more than just a simple off-dry white—it’s a wine that stands out with its layered complexity and vibrant personality, making it a delightful choice for adventurous wine lovers.

Learn about Ferngrove Wines

Ferngrove Winery’s excellence starts in the vineyards, in the fertile soil of the Great Southern region. The Great Southern Estate Vineyard portfolio is now comprised of three unique properties: The Ferngrove Home Block, Vintage Park, and Ferndale. Using only 100% Estate-grown fruit, each site produces grapes with equally distinctive flavours due to variations in soils, microclimate, exposure, and other viticultural factors.

Located in one of the southernmost points of the state, the Great Southern region stands out as one of the coolest wine-producing areas in Australia. This unique climate necessitates a later vintage compared to other local regions, allowing grapes to ripen gradually and evenly over an extended period, thereby maximising flavour and varietal character.

While grapes from warmer regions ripen swiftly, resulting in wines that are fuller-bodied, higher in natural sugar, lower in acidity, and higher in alcohol content, grapes grown in cooler regions like the Great Southern mature and develop their flavors slowly. The resulting Ferngrove wines are renowned for their complexity and balance, boasting elevated acidity and nuanced mineral flavours, making them exceptionally food-friendly.

There is a growing global trend towards wines from cooler climate regions, with the Great Southern region, nestled in Australia’s South West corner, recognized as one of the premier “Dress Circle” cool climate regions by James Halliday.
