In 2025 the Porongurup region experienced a warm, steady season with modest rainfall, letting vineyard teams focus on canopy and soil management without constant disease pressure. The granite slopes and elevated aspects delivered excellent drainage and cooling night breezes, helping to preserve acidity even under heat. White varieties, especially Riesling, came in earlier than average, with pick timing crucial to retain vibrancy. The fruit was healthy, tight-clustered, and intensely aromatic, showing lime, white blossom, wet stone and subtle citrus peel notes. Because of the compressed ripening window, blocks were harvested in quick succession, and labour coordination was key. For dry Riesling, the outcome is promising: juicy yet taut, with a bright core and a mineral seam that anchors the palate. The wines show excellent clarity, and the balance between sugar and acid is strong, giving them both drinkability now and substance for aging. In many parcels, yields were slightly reduced, concentrating flavour intensity, and the pristine fruit condition meant limited intervention was needed in the winery. Overall, 2025 in Porongurup looks set to yield dry Rieslings with both immediacy and tension, combining expressive aromatics with fine structure.
