Tasting Notes:

  • Colour: The wine has a wild crimson hue, reflecting its vibrant and youthful character.
  • Aromas: On the nose, it presents ripe blackberry and black plum, offering a rich and inviting bouquet.
  • Flavours: On the palate, the wine is juicy and delicious, with sweet black fruit flavours that are balanced by the fine structure provided by French oak. Subtle notes of spice add depth and complexity.
  • Finish: The wine’s finish is smooth, with lingering fruit and oak characteristics.

Winemaking Details (Explained):

  • Cold Machine Harvesting: Grapes were picked at their peak ripeness to capture the perfect balance of sugar, acidity, and tannin for optimal wine quality.
  • Maceration on Skins: After harvesting, the grapes spent 10 days on skins to extract rich colour, flavour, and tannins. This enhances the wine’s full-bodied texture and complexity.
  • French Oak Maturation: The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 17 months. This process softens the tannins and imparts subtle spicy and toasty oak characteristics to the wine.

Food Pairing Suggestions:

  • Grilled Steaks or Lamb Chops: The rich fruit and structured tannins complement the bold flavours of grilled meats.
  • Beef Stew: A hearty, rich beef stew pairs wonderfully with the wine’s depth and spice notes.
  • Aged Cheeses: Enjoy with strong, aged cheeses like Cheddar or Gorgonzola, where the complexity of the wine enhances the flavours of the cheese.

Best Serving Temp:

Serve at 18°C to allow the wine to fully express its flavours and aromas. If being stored at room temperature in warm weather, place in the fridge for about 45 mins prior to serving.

Learn About Peos Estate

Peos Estate has a large selection of premium Western Australian wines.

The boutique region of Manjimup is one of the most remote wine districts in the world and is home to some of the globe’s oldest soils. This, combined with the area’s elevation, pristine water, and cool temperatures, means Manjimup consistently produces world-class wines. The Peos Wines portfolio is produced entirely from estate-grown grapes, plucked from the Vineyard planted on our 90-acre Manjimup property. Heading the top of the Peos Wines list is their amazing Pinot Noir!

For over 90 years, the Peos family, originally from Macedonia, has called Manjimup home. Rooted in a tradition of viticulture, brothers Vic, John, Kon, and Chris united in 1996 to fulfil their shared vision of establishing a vineyard, a tribute to their late father, Jim Peos, and their grandfather, P.Y. Peos.

P.Y. Peos, a fervent farmer, initiated the family’s connection to wine by cultivating grapes and crafting wine in Macedonia nearly a century ago. Passing on his passion to his son Jim, who continued the tradition until the family migrated to Australia in 1951, joining P.Y. in their new homeland.

Upon settling in Australia, the Peos family chose Manjimup for its fertile soils and favourable climate, where they immersed themselves in various agricultural ventures, ranging from dairy farming and beef production to diverse horticultural endeavours including potatoes, cauliflowers, and beans.

Through the establishment of Peos Estate winery, the third generation Peos brothers have come full circle, returning to their roots of grape cultivation and wine production in Manjimup, perpetuating the family legacy with reverence.
