Lemon Citrus | Line and Length | Dry

Drawn from select parcels across Great Southern’s leading Riesling sites in Frankland River, Porongurup and Mount Barker, this 2025 release shows exactly why the vintage is being talked about as one of the greats for WA Riesling. Crisp, dry and finely etched, it is all about lemon citrus, tight acidity and mineral drive, with just enough fruit intensity to make it seriously drinkable now and poised to evolve beautifully in the cellar.

Made from free run juice and fermented with neutral yeast for maximum purity, this sits right in the sweet spot between precision and pleasure.

Why You Will Love It

  • Classic Great Southern Riesling with bright lemon and lime, white florals and mineral lift.

  • From what Ray Jordan is calling one of the finest recent vintages for Riesling, showing intensity and line.

  • Crisp, dry and refreshing at 11.5 percent alcohol, perfect for seafood and summer drinking.

  • Free run juice and neutral yeast preserve purity, finesse and a clean citrus profile.

  • Balanced for both immediate enjoyment and cellaring, with a tight acid spine that will carry it for years.

Awards and Accolades

93 Points – Ray Jordan
Ray highlights 2025 as a standout year for Riesling and calls this wine superb, with dominant lemon citrus, spice and a touch of zestiness that lifts both nose and palate. He praises its balance, intensity and the tight line of acidity that drives a long, defined finish.

Tasting Notes

  • Colour
Pale straw with green tinges and excellent brightness.
  • Aromatics
Lemon zest and lime pith with white blossom, a hint of citrus spice and subtle crushed stone minerality.
  • Palate
Dry, precise and focused. Juicy lemon and lime are layered with green apple and a light saline, slate like character. There is real intensity through the mid palate, carried by a tight, racy line of acidity that gives the wine energy and drive.
  • Finish
Long, linear and refreshing, with lingering citrus, spice and mineral notes that echo after each sip.

Winemaker’s Note

The Signature Series Riesling is crafted to express both variety and region with clarity. Parcels from Great Southern’s key subregions are handled gently, using only free run juice and a neutral yeast strain, to capture pristine citrus flavour and a fine, chalky acid profile. Oak is avoided entirely to keep the style crisp, dry and focused.

FAQ 🧐

Is it dry or off dry?
It is a crisp, dry style with bright acidity and citrus fruit, so it feels refreshing rather than sweet.

How does it compare to Clare or Eden Valley Riesling?
Great Southern Riesling tends to sit closer to a classic lime and lemon profile, with a slightly softer, talc like texture and a subtle saline, mineral edge, rather than the sometimes more piercing line of some South Australian styles.

Do I need to decant it?
Not essential, but pouring it into a jug or carafe and giving it a few minutes in the glass will help the citrus and floral notes to open up.

A pure, finely etched Great Southern Riesling from a standout vintage, with all the lemon citrus, line and length you want and plenty of class for the price. 🍋
