West Cape Howe

West Cape Howe Sauvignon Blanc 2025

Crisp ~ Tropical Finesse

Part of the Regional Range from the esteemed West Cape Howe estate, this 2025 Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the home-vineyard at Langton, surrounding the winery in Mount Barker. A near-perfect growing season, with a moist winter/spring followed by a warm, dry summer gave the fruit superb ripeness with retained vibrancy. Picked a little earlier than usual to preserve natural acidity, the result is a bright, layered wine with tropical lift and refined drive.

Why You’ll Love It ❤️

  • 🍍 Tropical & vibrant – aromas of guava, passionflower, citrus blossom and a hint of makrut lime
  • 🌿 Cool-climate precision – fresh, linear acid structure gives finesse and tension
  • 🍈 Generous fruit weight without heaviness – pineapple, citrus, honeydew melon push through but remain balanced
  • 🔄 Un-wooded purity – allowing varietal character and vineyard site to shine
  • 🌊 Local pedigree – from the mature Langton Vineyard, a home-site of West Cape Howe in the Great Southern region

Tasting Notes 🍇

  • Colour: Very pale straw with delicate white-gold tinges
  • Aromatics: Fresh and lively – guava, citrus blossom, passionflower with a whisper of makrut lime
  • Palate: Vibrant and seamless – guava, citrus and tropical fruit meet a clean, linear acid line. Mid-palate weight gives volume, finishing with a refreshing, juicy fruit linger.

Accolades

Ray Jordan – Western Australian Wine Critic

This comes from the Langton Vineyard just out of Mount Barker, and it captures the variety quite beautifully. It’s a more restrained expression of sauvignon blanc, but on the nose, you get the classic citrus and gooseberry notes with just a faint hint of cut grass. The palate is crisp and clean with a pure vibrancy that extends to a long finish”

Winemaker’s Note

“In 2025 we were fortunate to have near-ideal conditions—ample soil moisture and moderate summer warmth. By picking slightly earlier we retained the natural acidity while capturing full flavour development”

FAQ Wine Terms 🧐

Why pick earlier than usual for this vintage?
The earlier pick preserved the natural acidity essential to Sauvignon Blanc’s structure, especially important in a warm vintage, while the moderate summer allowed full flavour development.

What does un-wooded mean for flavour?
Without oak influence, the wine retains crispness and varietal purity – the fruit, acidity and site stay front and centre.

What makes Mount Barker in the Great Southern special for this wine?
Cool nights and consistent maritime breezes allow slower ripening, preserving vibrancy and finesse—qualities evident in this wine.
