Castle Rock Estate
Situated along Porongurup Road within the Plantagenet shire, the Castle Rock vineyard finds its home nestled high in the Porongurup Ranges, just 40 km north of Albany, in the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia. This region in the Great Southern of WA is renowned for its ability to produce wines of exceptional precision and vitality.
Castle Rock Wines
At an elevation of 300 meters, the vineyard benefits from its elevated position, inviting cooling south-east breezes that extend the growing season, perfect for the ripening of Pinot Noir. This unique microclimate facilitates the optimal development of varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Noir, known for their sensitivity to heat and early ripening tendencies. Here, they flourish, attaining peak varietal flavour, ripeness, and balance while preserving natural acidity.
In the vineyard, Castle Rock Estate utilises extensive canopy management to encourage airflow through the vines, thereby reducing the dependence on fungicides. Instead of relying on pesticides or insecticides, we believe in fostering the natural balance of the vineyard, promoting a healthy and robust ecosystem.
The Castle Rock range is made possible by the very talented wine making skills of Rob Diletti, the son of Castle Rock Estate founders Angelo and Wendy Diletti who founded the winery back in 1983. Growing up among the vineyards, he honed his passion for grape-growing, laying the foundation for his journey in the wine industry. Rob is also the wine maker for a number of prominent Western Australian wineries.
We stock some of their range here in Perth and can order in non-stocked wines of theirs.
