Hay Shed Hill
Hay Shed Hill is a much-loved Margaret River estate set in the heart of Wilyabrup, a cradle of the region’s earliest vineyards.

Hay Shed Hill Winery
First planted in the early 1970s on a former group-settlement dairy farm known as Sussex Vale, the site’s undulating slopes and close proximity to the Indian Ocean deliver the hallmark balance of ripe fruit and natural acidity that Wilyabrup is famous for. Many blocks are dry-grown, encouraging small crops of intensely flavoured grapes and clear vineyard expression. Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are the heroes, supported by classic Margaret River blends and a growing reputation for Malbec.

The modern chapter began in late 2006, when winemaker Mike Kerrigan (ex-Howard Park) and partners acquired the estate and refocused production on single-vineyard and block-specific wines that speak directly of site. These appear under the Hay Shed Hill Vineyard and Block Series labels; a complementary range, Pitchfork, extends the house style to approachable, everyday expressions. The cellar door typically pours a wide selection, often more than two dozen wines, showcasing both the region’s classics and Mediterranean varieties.
Visitors also gravitate to Rústico at Hay Shed Hill, the on-site, award-winning Mediterranean-style restaurant known for its tapas degustation paired with estate wines—making the property a favourite stop on the Margaret River tasting trail. Altogether, Hay Shed Hill blends pioneering roots with a contemporary, site-first philosophy, producing wines that capture Wilyabrup’s generous fruit, fine tannin structure, and refreshing coastal line.
