About House of Cards wines
House of Cards was established by Travis and Elizabeth Wray in 2011. Its name reflects the gamble behind every vintage: the weather sets the conditions, the vineyard deals the hand and the winemaker must make the most of the cards available.
Every House of Cards wine begins in the family’s 12-hectare vineyard on Caves Road in the Yallingup subregion of Margaret River. Planted in 1997, the dry-grown, low-cropping vineyard supplies all the fruit used by the winery. It has been certified organic since November 2020, with a focus on healthy soils, resilient vines and a sustainable vineyard ecosystem.
Expressive wines made from one organic vineyard
Winemaker Travis Wray brings experience from respected Margaret River producers as well as vintages in New Zealand and Canada. Small batches, individual vineyard blocks and thoughtful experimentation allow each variety and season to show its personality. In the vineyard, organic compost made from grape marc and other local materials helps return nutrients to the soil and supports long-term vine health.
The result is a distinctive range with freshness, texture and a strong sense of place. Chardonnay is a particular strength, while the Sauvignon Blanc and red wines show the same balance of regional character and modern drinkability.
Internationally recognised Margaret River Chardonnay
House of Cards has built an exceptional international record. Its flagship Chardonnay won Best in Show at the 2023 Decanter World Wine Awards, and the winery was named IWSC Western Australian Producer of the Year in both 2024 and 2026. The 2025 Ace High Chardonnay then became the first wine to receive a perfect 100-point score from the IWSC since its current scoring scale was introduced.
Please note: the award-winning Ace High Chardonnay currently available from Partners in Wine WA is the 2024 vintage. It earned 96 points and Gold at the 2025 IWSC, together with 95 points from Ray Jordan.
