Plum and Mulberry ~ Mocha spice

This is a seriously impressive WA Shiraz for the money. While Amelia Park is based in Margaret River, this wine is sourced from a single vineyard in Frankland River, a Great Southern powerhouse that consistently delivers Shiraz with depth, colour and elegance. In 2023, a long, cool season meant the fruit ripened slowly and evenly, building flavour and natural balance without losing freshness.

The result is a rich, plush Shiraz that still feels composed. Expect mulberry, blackberry and spicy plum, with notes of olive, cocoa and mocha, plus a fine-grained oak polish that never overwhelms the fruit. The tannins are soft and suedey, the palate is generous and smooth, and the finish carries beautifully. It’s one of those bottles that drinks well now, yet has the structure to reward cellaring too.

Why You Will Love It

  • 95 points from Ray Jordan, a huge endorsement for a Shiraz at this level
  • Single-vineyard Frankland River fruit for colour, intensity and elegant structure
  • Plush dark fruits with savoury olive and cocoa complexity
  • Aged in French oak for 12 months for polish and texture
  • Delicious now, with 5 to 10 years cellaring potential

95 Points – Ray Jordan
“A mighty impressive wine… generous, supple, opulent but all controlled and balanced. Spicy plum, dark cherry and a little green olive on the nose. Further riches on the palate supported by supple tannins and fine-grained oak which never dominates. An excellent example of shiraz from Frankland.”

93 Points – Wine Companion
“Highly aromatic, and highly pleasing as a result. Florals, brown spices such as star anise, dark plums, dabs of cedary oak and more. The fuller-bodied palate is plush, soft almost, with pliable, velvety tannins, then a little grip on the finish. I preferred this over its reserve because there’s a savouriness within and obviously less oak”
