Ray Jordan

Top 100 Reds 2024

“This wine is just starting to hit its straps. It was a super season, and this combination reaches a level of sophistication and class. A leafy, cooler climate cabernet, with the richness and middle palate of merlot, provides a compelling and engaging wine. Cellar 9 years.”

Cassis, bay leaf and dark chocolate with wild herbs and a salty tang. Layered and long with densely packed fine tannins that support an effortless concentration of fruit. An easily appealing wine with great pedigree and charm.

Castelli Estate wines, founded in 2007 have long been producing award winning premium red and white wines.

The Castelli name is steeped in Italian heritage, originating in the picturesque country village of San Giorgio a Liri, nestled in Italy’s Lazio region – the birthplace of the Castelli family. About halfway between Rome and Naples lies the village of San Giorgio a Liri. Framed by the serene green Aurunci mountain range and the winding Liri River, the village is home to our uncle Gregorio Castelli.

Gregorio carries on the winemaking traditions passed down by our grandfather, Germino. When Gregorio’s elder brother Sam immigrated to Western Australia, he concentrated on establishing the Castelli name in his new homeland. Sam founded an ASX-listed engineering firm and formed the Castelli Group – a diverse conglomerate with investments in renewable energy, real estate development, and wine.

In 2004, Sam and his son Adam stumbled upon the plot of land that would perpetuate the Castelli family’s passion for crafting premium wine in Australia. Sam was always enamored with the scenery around Denmark. With slopes cascading into valleys adorned with eucalyptus trees, and the faint tang of salt from the Southern Ocean carried on the breeze, the 120-acre estate proved to be the ideal setting for the Castelli family to establish their presence.

From those humble beginnings to now, the Castelli Wine range to has seen medals, and trophies, earning critical acclaim. Yet, the true joy comes from knowing that our wines are savored as they were meant to be – shared around the family table, accompanied by food, tales, and laughter.
