Red-fruited | Peppery | Final Ever Release

Evans & Tate Gnangara Shiraz 2022 marks the end of an extraordinary run for one of Western Australia’s most familiar wine labels. Gnangara wines were made across consecutive vintages for almost five decades, building a loyal following for their generous flavour, easy-drinking style and excellent value. Evans & Tate has now retired the Gnangara Shiraz, making the 2022 its final vintage ever produced.

Fresh and lively, it brings together ripe red berries and plum with white pepper and savoury spice. Gentle tannins keep everything smooth and approachable, making this an uncomplicated Shiraz for barbecues, pizza and relaxed weeknight dinners.

The bottles showing in stock are from the final remaining supply. Once they are sold, there will be no further vintage and no opportunity for us to reorder. Strict limit of two bottles per customer. We want to share the love and give more WA wine drinkers the chance to enjoy one last bottle of Gnangara.

Why You Will Love It ❤️

  • Ripe red berry and plum flavours
  • Peppery spice and a subtle savoury character
  • Lighter bodied, perfect for someone just getting into drinking red wine
  • Light, gentle tannins rather than a heavy or drying finish
  • A versatile match for barbecues, burgers, pizza and pasta

The Final Gnangara Shiraz Ever Made

The Gnangara name has been part of Evans & Tate’s history for almost five decades. It was originally inspired by Lake Gnangara and the aquifer connected to the original Shiraz vineyards in Perth’s Swan Valley.

The range became known for delivering fruit-forward Western Australian wines that were approachable, reliable and made to be enjoyed without fuss.

The 2022 Gnangara Shiraz was the final vintage produced. The quantity displayed on this page represents the remaining stock available to us. When the live stock count reaches zero, this wine is gone permanently.

To help more customers secure a bottle, purchases are limited to two bottles per customer.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep crimson red.

Aroma: Ripe red berries and plum with white pepper, savoury spice and a bright, inviting freshness.

Palate: Fresh and lively, with generous red fruit, plum and peppery spice. The fruit is balanced by a subtle savoury edge, keeping the wine flavoursome without becoming overly heavy.

Finish: Smooth and approachable, with light tannins and lingering red fruit and spice.

Wine Details

  • Producer: Evans & Tate
  • Wine: Gnangara Shiraz
  • Vintage: 2022
  • Variety: Shiraz
  • Origin: Western Australia
  • Bottle size: 750ml

Serving and Cellaring

Serve at approximately 15°C. During warmer Perth weather, place the bottle in the fridge for around 30 minutes before serving.

The wine does not require lengthy decanting. Opening it 15 to 20 minutes before drinking will help the red fruit and peppery aromas become more expressive.

This is an approachable style made for enjoyment rather than extended cellaring. It is drinking well now and is best enjoyed over the next couple of years.

Food Pairing

The fresh fruit, savoury spice and gentle tannins make it a particularly versatile food wine. Try it with:

  • Barbecued sausages or lamb chops
  • Beef burgers
  • Pulled pork
  • Pepperoni or mushroom pizza
  • Tomato-based pasta
  • Grilled mushrooms
  • Mildly spiced meat dishes
  • A classic steak sandwich
