This vintage reflects the classic conditions of 2022, delivering a wine with exceptional depth, balance, and the potential for extended cellaring. Crafted with precision, it offers a glimpse into the artistry behind Fraser Gallop’s winemaking philosophy.
Handpicked on 22nd March 2022, the grapes were carefully monitored for four weeks prior to harvest to ensure peak ripeness. Once in the winery, the must was handled with care to encourage rapid fermentation, with malolactic fermentation co-inoculated on the third day for seamless integration. The wine spent 25 days on skins before being matured for 18 months in second-use French oak barrels, resulting in a harmonious blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Petit Verdot.
In the glass, this wine presents a vibrant, deep garnet hue. On the nose, it exudes aromas of ripe mulberry, red and black fruits, complemented by notes of vanilla custard oak and subtle pipe tobacco, creating a complex and alluring bouquet.
The palate is medium to full-bodied, showcasing ripe blackberries and plums with hints of cocoa powder and spiced fruit biscuits. Its structure is impressive, with fine tannins and a lingering finish that makes it a standout choice for enjoying now or cellaring for years to come.
