Tasting Notes 

Colour: Bright straw with a light golden edge.

Aromatics: White peach, melon and softly perfumed fruit, with citrus lift, gentle tropical notes and a subtle touch of French oak.

Palate: Dry, elegant and well structured. Peach and melon fruit sit at the centre, supported by ripe citrus, tropical hints and fine oak. The acidity is bright and balanced, giving the wine length and freshness.

Finish: Long, clean and composed, with lingering stone fruit, citrus and a soft oak polish.

About the Wine

John Kosovich is one of the great names of Swan Valley wine, and this Chardonnay shows why the region should never be underestimated. While the Swan Valley is warm, mature vines and careful handling can produce white wines with impressive depth, freshness and longevity.

This 2022 Chardonnay brings together fruit weight, crisp acidity and measured oak influence. It is not a lean, sharp Chardonnay and it is not a heavy, overdone style either. It sits in a very enjoyable middle ground: ripe, dry, elegant and beautifully balanced.

Avoid serving it too cold. A slightly warmer glass will bring out the white peach, melon, citrus and subtle oak detail.

Decant: Not required, but a few minutes in a good-sized Chardonnay glass will help it open.

Cellar: Drinking well now. Ray Jordan notes cellar potential of up to 8 years, so it can also be held if you enjoy more savoury, developed Chardonnay characters.
