Lancaster Wines is a family-owned gem in the Swan Valley, run by Carl and Jackie, who have brought their passion for wine to one of the region’s oldest vineyards.
The 2021 Lancaster Wissanger (G.S.M.) is a real delight—a blend of Grenache, Shiraz, and Mataro (Mourvèdre) that’s bursting with ripe red berries and a hint of spice. On the nose, you’ll catch a whiff of red berries with a light, spicy kick.
Take a sip, and you’re greeted with soft, spiced berry flavours that are smooth and round. The Shiraz adds a nice depth to the mid-palate, but overall, it’s still on the lighter side—making it super easy to drink and enjoy.
This wine carries on the legacy of the Wissanger vineyard, which was once a successful venture under the Taylor family in the early 1900s before being taken over by the Lancaster family in 2002. Made from handpicked fruit, it’s a wonderful blend that honours its historical roots.
