Myattsfield GSM

Myattsfield winery is located in the charming sub-region of the Perth Hills Wine Region, stretching from Chittering to Jarrahdale, and has gained recognition for its unique geographical and topographical influences that enhance the quality of its wines, especially boutique varietals. In 1999, it was granted Geographic Indications Committee (GIC) status, solidifying its reputation as a distinguished wine region.

In the glass, the Myattsfield GSM displays a captivating colour that hints at its depth and complexity. The aromas are highly fragrant and beautifully perfumed, immediately engaging the senses. The subtle oak influence is masterfully underplayed, thanks to a fermentation process that utilises both oak barrels and ceramic egg vessels. This technique allows a delightful blend of dark and lifted red fruits to shine, with the Mourvèdre adding a nuanced spicy edge and hints of dried herbs.

On the palate, the wine offers a medium bodied experience, showcasing a harmonious interplay of flavours. The dark and lifted red fruits create a rich tapestry of taste, while the Mourvèdre lends an intriguing spiciness that lingers on the finish. The balance of fruit, spice, and subtle oak creates a well-rounded and thoroughly enjoyable drinking experience.

For food pairings, this versatile blend complements a range of dishes beautifully. It shines alongside grilled meats, making it an excellent match for lamb or beef. Additionally, its spicy notes pair wonderfully with Mediterranean cuisine, such as roasted vegetables or herb-infused stews. For a casual dining experience, consider enjoying it with pizza topped with fresh herbs or a hearty pasta dish featuring a tomato-based sauce. Myattsfield wine promises to elevate any meal with its expressive character and depth.

Learn more about Myattsfield

Myattsfield Vineyard is a beautiful boutique winery nested in the Perth Hills region.

The original Myattsfield was the family farm in Camberwell, London. Joseph Myatt established a market garden on land owned by the Minet family. Over 175 years on, as descendants of Joseph, we’re now here in the Bickley Valley, Western Australia. The Bickley Valley is merely a small sub-region of the Perth Hills Wine Region, spanning from Chittering to Jarrahdale. This area was acknowledged for its distinct set of geographical and topographical influences impacting the wine quality in the region by the Geographic Indications Committee. It was granted GIC status as a gazetted wine region in 1999.

The Darling Scarp protects the Valley from maritime influences, making the climate more continental than Mediterranean in nature. This corresponds to cold nights and warm days. Valley walls reduce direct daylight hours, resulting in the daily maxima arriving later in the day and for a shorter period. At 300-350m above sea level, the Bickley Valley is 2-3 degrees cooler than Perth. Amongst the undulating terrain and aspects, site plays an important role in the valley. Elevated, northern-facing slopes produce significantly warmer sites better suited to dry red varieties. Southern-facing, lower sites produce cooler variations capable of producing better whites and lighter reds, while elevated, western-facing sites are ideal for fortified production.
