Peos Pinot Noir

Vibrant | Fresh | Elegant

The 2023 Peos Estate 4 Kings Pinot Noir is a standout wine made from 100% Manjimup fruit. Aged in French oak, this Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully now but will continue to develop over the next eight years.

Why You Will Love It:

  • Fresh and Fruity: Bursting with ripe raspberry and strawberry flavours, balanced by light spices and a touch of vanilla.
  • Elegant Tannins: The fine tannins and fresh acidity provide structure, leading to a long, smooth finish.
  • Aging Potential: This PinotNoir can age gracefully for up to eight years, developing greater complexity over time.
  • Food Pairing: Its vibrant fruit and subtle complexity make it a perfect match for fresh seafood, grilled vegetables, or a charcuterie board.

Reviews:

Partners In Wine WA Tasting review: Absolutely super delightful! It’s fresh, with the fruit being clean, juicy and bouncy. It’s all about the fruit, very little complexity or oak, but wow still very, very enjoyable indeed! Gets our GOLD rating

Ray Jordan – 93 Points
Manjimup excelled in this terrific vintage, producing one of the best yet under this label. The aromas burst open to reveal an exotic strawberry and spicy combination with a subtle underlying savoury field mushroom depth. There is structure in the palate with chalky tannins and fine-grained oak supporting that fleshy fruit intensity. Classy wine, this.

Tasting Notes:

  • Colour: Bright violet core with a delicate ruby rim.
  • Aromas: Fresh and inviting with a mix of baking spices, raspberry, plum, and light vanilla.
  • Flavours: Vibrant strawberry and savoury notes on the palate, with a hint of spice. Fine tannins and fresh acidity provide balance.
  • Finish: Long, clean finish with lingering fruit and spice.

Winemaking Details:

(Explained)

  • Whole Bunch Fermentation: 10% of the grapes were fermented whole (without being crushed), which adds a slight savoury character and complexity to the wine.
  • Skin Contact: The wine spent 10 days on the skins, allowing for the extraction of colour, flavour, and tannins, giving it structure and a full flavour profile.
  • French Oak Maturation: Aged in French oak barrels, which provides subtle oak influence without overpowering the fruit, and contributes to the wine’s smooth texture.

Food Pairing Suggestions:

  • Grilled Salmon: The fresh fruit and spice flavours complement the rich, smoky flavours of grilled fish.
  • Roast Chicken: A delicate pairing where the savoury notes and fresh acidity balance the richness of the chicken.
  • Mushroom Risotto: The earthy mushrooms enhance the wine’s complexity, while its smooth finish cuts through the creamy texture.
  • Cheese: Pairs well with soft cheeses like Brie or Camembert, where the wine’s acidity enhances the richness of the cheese.

Best Serving Temp:

Serve at 14°C – 16°C for the perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and oak.

Peos Estate has a large selection of premium Western Australian wines.

The boutique region of Manjimup is one of the most remote wine districts in the world and is home to some of the globe’s oldest soils. This, combined with the area’s elevation, pristine water, and cool temperatures, means Manjimup consistently produces world-class wines. The Peos Wines portfolio is produced entirely from estate-grown grapes, plucked from the Vineyard planted on our 90-acre Manjimup property. Heading the top of the Peos Wines list is their amazing Pinot Noir!

For over 90 years, the Peos family, originally from Macedonia, has called Manjimup home. Rooted in a tradition of viticulture, brothers Vic, John, Kon, and Chris united in 1996 to fulfil their shared vision of establishing a vineyard, a tribute to their late father, Jim Peos, and their grandfather, P.Y. Peos.

P.Y. Peos, a fervent farmer, initiated the family’s connection to wine by cultivating grapes and crafting wine in Macedonia nearly a century ago. Passing on his passion to his son Jim, who continued the tradition until the family migrated to Australia in 1951, joining P.Y. in their new homeland.

Upon settling in Australia, the Peos family chose Manjimup for its fertile soils and favourable climate, where they immersed themselves in various agricultural ventures, ranging from dairy farming and beef production to diverse horticultural endeavours including potatoes, cauliflowers, and beans.

Through the establishment of Peos Estate winery, the third generation Peos brothers have come full circle, returning to their roots of grape cultivation and wine production in Manjimup, perpetuating the family legacy with reverence.
