Syrah vs Shiraz – What’s the Difference? 🤔

Though genetically the same grape, Syrah and Shiraz are stylistically different:

• Shiraz (Aussie style) – Typically grown in warmer regions like Barossa or McLaren Vale. Expect rich, ripe, fruit-forward wines with bold structure and sometimes high alcohol.

• Syrah (French or cool climate Aussie style) – More restrained, savoury and peppery. Emphasises spice, florals and elegant structure over sheer power.
