Rockcliffe Winery Single Site Riesling

Rockcliffe Winery, nestled in the stunning Denmark area of Western Australia, is surrounded by the enchanting Karri forest. Established in 1987, Rockcliffe has since become a pioneer in the region with the winery’s name reflecting the granite cliffs that define the terroir, which, along with the unique geological features, imparts distinctive characteristics to their wines. The interplay between the land and the vines, drawing essential nutrients from the granite, creates wines that blend tradition with exceptional natural features.

The 2021 Rockcliffe Single Site Riesling is a premium offering, with only 1,400 bottles produced, showcasing the finest fruit from the winery. The vintage is characterised by ripe intensity, presenting a vibrant pale straw colour in the glass. On the nose, expect a bouquet of fresh lime and delicate jasmine, setting the stage for the flavours to come.

On the palate, this Riesling delivers a burst of green apple and citrus, with a long, mineral finish that adds complexity and depth. The wine’s vibrant acidity and mineral notes promise continued development and enjoyment over the next 3-5 years, offering a rewarding experience for those who appreciate its intensity and balance.

Pair this exceptional Riesling with dishes that feature fresh, vibrant flavours. It complements seafood such as prawns or white fish, as well as light salads and citrus-based dressings, enhancing the meal with its refreshing and mineral character.

But our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop there. Despite the convenience of having Denmark mains water just 40 metres away, we’ve opted for complete self-sufficiency in water usage. We utilise filtered dam water for irrigation and cleaning purposes, while filtered rainwater – predominantly collected from our roofs – is used to rinse anything that comes into contact with our wine, including pipes and tanks, as well as for drinking water.

Our overarching goal is to operate at the highest environmental standards possible. We’re dedicated to being as sustainable as we can, ensuring that every step of our winemaking process reflects our commitment to both quality and environmental responsibility.
