Rockcliffe Third Reef Merlot

Rockcliffe Winery, nestled in the gorgeous Denmark region of Western Australia, has been making waves in the wine world since 1987. Set against the backdrop of the lush Karri forest and granite cliffs, Rockcliffe’s wines are a testament to their unique terroir. The Third Reef Merlot is a prime example of their craftsmanship, blending tradition with the magical influence of their surroundings.

The 2018 Rockcliffe Third Reef Merlot dazzles with its deep, rich red hue, instantly catching the eye and promising something special. Deliciously ripe aroma of plums—a prelude to a wine that’s as straightforward as it is delightful.

On the palate, this Merlot is a joyride of rich plum and red berry flavours. Its medium body is soft, smooth, and downright charming, making it perfect for any occasion when you just want a glass of something easy and satisfying.

Pair it with roast chicken, a spread of charcuterie, or a comforting bowl of pasta with tomato sauce. The Third Reef Merlot is a versatile crowd-pleaser that effortlessly elevates your meal with its juicy, approachable style. Cheers to that!

Partners In Wine WA Tasting Review: A lot of people think Merlot is void of deep flavours. If only they discovered a Merlot like this. Beautiful lush plums are pure joy. As always with a Merlot it’s so important to serve around 14c to get the best of it. So give it some fridge time especially in summer.

At Rockcliffe Winery, premium quality and sustainability go hand in hand – it’s at the core of everything we do! We source 100% of our energy from renewable solar power, with any excess energy carefully stored in lithium batteries.

But our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop there. Despite the convenience of having Denmark mains water just 40 metres away, we’ve opted for complete self-sufficiency in water usage. We utilise filtered dam water for irrigation and cleaning purposes, while filtered rainwater – predominantly collected from our roofs – is used to rinse anything that comes into contact with our wine, including pipes and tanks, as well as for drinking water.

Our overarching goal is to operate at the highest environmental standards possible. We’re dedicated to being as sustainable as we can, ensuring that every step of our winemaking process reflects our commitment to both quality and environmental responsibility.
