The 2022 vintage had consistent rain over Winter and Spring which recharged the ground water, as a result the vineyard was not watered leading up to the 2022 harvest. This has allowed for even healthy growth. A cool summer gave the vines a long ripening period leading to elegant and flavoursome red wines.
The Walcott Pinot has BIG sweet and ripe aromas of sour cherry, dark chocolate, cloves and subtle blackberry and smokiness.
A concentrated and complex palate with sour berry flavours, spice and subtle smoky notes giving a lovely mouth feel. 100% French oak barriques – 20% new and 80% two year old barrels for 10 months maturation give the right amount of oak, with spice, fine tannins and earthiness giving a lengthy savoury finish.
