FAQ Wine Terms Explained 🤔

Q: What is lees stirring, and why does it matter?
A: Lees stirring (bâtonnage) involves stirring the wine while it rests on the yeast lees, adding creaminess, texture, and complexity to the final wine.

Q: What is malolactic fermentation, and how does it affect the wine?
A: Partial malolactic fermentation (MLF) converts sharp malic acid into softer lactic acid, creating a buttery mouthfeel and a smooth finish.

Q: How long can I cellar this wine?
A: This Chardonnay drinks beautifully now but will develop further richness and depth over the next 5–7 years.

Food Pairing Suggestions 🍽️

  • Roast Chicken with Lemon & Herbs – Complements the wine’s creamy texture and bright acidity.
  • Seared Scallops with Butter Sauce – Enhances the richness while balancing freshness.
  • Creamy Pasta Dishes (Fettuccine Alfredo, Carbonara) – Matches the wine’s luscious mouthfeel.
  • Mild, Creamy Cheeses (Brie, Camembert) – Soft, buttery cheeses highlight the Chardonnay’s opulence.

Meet the Makers: The Radomiljac Family

For over 60 years, the Radomiljac family has been the heart and soul of Pemberley, playing a significant role in the region’s food and agricultural industries. In the 1960s, Charlie and Joan Radomiljac purchased the original 203-hectare property, where they raised eight children while cultivating legumes, potatoes, and fruit. They also managed livestock, operated a dairy, and even ran a restaurant and catering business in nearby Pemberton.

As Charlie and Joan looked towards retirement in the 1990s, their son David and his wife Monica turned their focus to an emerging industry—wine. Taking a leap of faith, they established vineyards in the rich Pemberton soil, confident that the region’s climate and terroir would produce exceptional wines. Their dedication and passion have since cemented Pemberley’s reputation as a leading name in premium cool-climate wines.
