Peel Estate Chenin Blanc 2026

partners in wine wa gold rating

Peel Estate Chenin Blanc 2026 is a bright and expressive Western Australian white made for relaxed drinking, good food and warm afternoons.

Fresh fruit leads the way, with orchard and citrus characters flowing from the aromatics onto a surprisingly generous palate. Chenin Blanc’s naturally refreshing acidity keeps everything lively, balancing the wine’s depth and carrying its flavour through to a clean, mouthwatering finish.

Chenin Blanc has been grown at Peel Estate since 1976 and holds a special place in the history of both the winery and the wider Peel wine region. This youthful 2026 release captures the variety in its freshest form, delivering plenty of flavour without losing its easy-drinking appeal.

Why You Will Love It

  • Fresh but not lightweight: The wine combines lively freshness with satisfying depth and flavour.
  • A historic Peel variety: Chenin Blanc has been part of Peel Estate since the original plantings in 1976.

  • Extremely food-friendly: Its combination of fruit, freshness and palate weight works with everything from seafood to chicken and mildly spiced dishes.

Winemaker’s Note

Peel Estate describes the 2026 Chenin Blanc as a wine that highlights the grape’s naturally fresh and fruity character.

The fruit carries confidently onto the palate, where it develops impressive depth while retaining freshness all the way through to the finish. It is a straightforward expression of Chenin Blanc, but certainly not a simple or forgettable one.

A Historic Variety for the Peel Region

Chenin Blanc is more than another white variety at Peel Estate. The winery’s relationship with the grape stretches back to 1976, when Chenin Blanc and Zinfandel followed the estate’s original Shiraz planting.

Chenin Blanc was also the first white grape planted commercially in the modern Peel wine region. This gives the variety a genuine connection to the development of local winegrowing.

Today, Peel Estate produces more than one expression of Chenin Blanc. This 2026 bottling focuses on fresh fruit, immediacy and easy drinking, while the separately released Wood Matured Chenin Blanc explores a richer and more complex style.

For anyone wanting to discover Peel Chenin in its most youthful and refreshing form, this is the ideal place to begin.

Viticulture and Winemaking

Peel Estate is located at Karnup, between Rockingham and Mandurah, with its vineyards close to the Indian Ocean.

The region combines a warm Mediterranean climate with cooling coastal influences and distinctive limestone-based soils. These conditions help grapes develop generous flavour while retaining the freshness needed to keep the finished wine balanced.

The 2026 Chenin Blanc has been made to preserve the grape’s bright fruit character. Rather than feeling thin or sharply acidic, it delivers a generous core of flavour supported by freshness that runs continuously through the palate.

All Peel Estate wines are made on site in the estate’s original brick and timber winery, surrounded by vineyards and mature tuart trees.

Storage and Serving Tips

Serve Peel Estate Chenin Blanc well chilled at approximately 8 to 10°C.

If the bottle has been stored in a regular refrigerator, remove it around 10 minutes before serving. This allows the fruit and aromatics to become more expressive without letting the wine become too warm.

The 2026 Chenin Blanc is designed to be enjoyed while youthful, fresh and fruit-driven. It should drink beautifully now and over the next two to three years when stored somewhere cool and dark.

Once opened, reseal the bottle and refrigerate it. The wine should remain fresh for approximately two to three days.

Food Pairing

  • Chicken tacos or taquitos: Peel Estate has paired this vintage with chicken taquitos, sour cream and a green tomato and jalapeño salsa.
  • Fresh seafood: Try it with grilled prawns, calamari, fish tacos or a simple seafood platter.
  • Roast chicken: Its fruit and acidity work beautifully with herb-roasted chicken and crisp vegetables.
  • Mildly spiced food: Chenin Blanc is an excellent partner for Thai-style salads, mild curries and dishes with fresh herbs.
  • Summer salads: Serve it with grilled chicken salad, goat’s cheese, pear, citrus or toasted nuts.
  • Soft cheese: Brie, Camembert and creamy goat’s cheese complement its fruit and refreshing finish.
  • Picnic food: A natural match for cold chicken, quiche, charcuterie and fresh bread enjoyed outdoors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Peel Estate Chenin Blanc dry or sweet?

This is a fresh, fruit-driven dry white wine. Its ripe fruit aromas can create an impression of sweetness, but the palate remains lively and refreshing through the finish.

What does Chenin Blanc taste like?

Chenin Blanc commonly displays orchard fruit, citrus and delicate floral characters. It is naturally high in acidity, which gives the wine freshness and makes it particularly versatile with food.

The Peel Estate style combines that freshness with generous fruit and good palate depth.

Is this the same as Peel Estate Wood Matured Chenin Blanc?

No. They are separate wines.

The 2026 Chenin Blanc is the fresher and more immediately approachable expression. Peel Estate’s Wood Matured Chenin Blanc is made as a richer, more textural and oak-influenced style.

Are these old Chenin Blanc vines?

Peel Estate’s association with Chenin Blanc dates to plantings made in 1976. This makes Chenin Blanc one of the varieties most closely connected with the history of the estate.

When should I drink the 2026 Chenin Blanc?

It is ready to enjoy now. Its strongest appeal is its youthful fruit and freshness, so drinking it over the next two to three years is recommended.

What temperature should Chenin Blanc be served at?

Serve it at approximately 8 to 10°C. Avoid serving it ice cold, as very low temperatures can hide the wine’s fruit and aroma.

What food goes best with it?

Seafood, chicken, summer salads, soft cheeses and mildly spiced dishes are all excellent choices. Its generous fruit can handle flavour, while the refreshing acidity helps cleanse the palate.
