Singlefile Wines is celebrated for its commitment to crafting exceptional wines from the Great Southern region, and their Grenache is no exception. The Frankland River sub-region is renowned as a premier red wine growing area in Western Australia. While Grenache plantings are sparse, the quality is outstanding. The fruit for this wine is sourced from the Riversdale Vineyard, which benefits from a north-facing orientation, yielding exceptionally high-quality grapes. Recently awarded 95 points by Barry Weinman of the Fine Wine Club, this Grenache exemplifies the region’s potential.

This varietal invites attention with its captivating perfumes and vibrant red berry aromas, reminiscent of cranberry, enhanced by subtle secondary notes of spices and earthy, herbal undertones.

On the palate, this medium-bodied Grenache offers a delicate grip of tannins, typical of the varietal. It features a luscious mouthfeel, with complex savoury flavours complemented by the fine tannins that extend into a long, dry finish. This wine is best enjoyed alongside good food, enhancing the overall experience.

This Grenache pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, making it an excellent choice for food enthusiasts. Its vibrant red berry and savoury flavours complement grilled meats, such as lamb skewers or rosemary-infused beef, enhancing the rich, smoky notes of the char. The main vineyards are set in the scenic Great Southern area, specifically in Denmark, Frankland River, Mount Barker and the Porongurups, while also sourcing from renowned regions like Margaret River. The Denmark property enjoys a cool maritime climate, ideal for growing aromatic varietals such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which showcase the region’s elegance. In contrast, the Frankland River vineyard, characterised by its continental climate, produces robust varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. This diverse, multi-regional approach allows Singlefile to craft an exceptional range of wines, each reflecting the unique terroirs of their origins and the winemakers’ dedication to quality.

Singlefile’s dedication to making exceptional wines is paralleled by its commitment to the Great Southern region. It’s as large as it is diverse. Its geography is a patchwork of coastal maritime land, gently undulating hills, open grazing country, eucalypt forests and granite outcrops. A true liquorice all-sorts of land girt by sea. And this variety is what makes the Great Southern so convincing as a supreme winemaking region.

Who owns Singlefile Wines? Singlefile was co-founded in 2007 by geologists Phil and Viv Snowden, along with their daughter Pam and son-in-law Patrick Corbett.

Since its inaugural vintage in 2008, Singlefile Wines has been forging relationships with growers across the Great Southern region, under the guidance of wine luminary Larry Cherubino. Together, we meticulously select sites and varieties renowned for their excellence. Join us on a journey through the Great Southern as we explore each of its unique regions.
