Kirk’s Current Favourites at Partners in Wine WA

If you’ve ever chatted to me upon delivery, or flicked me a message, you’ve probably asked the same question: “Kirk — what are you drinking at the moment?” Fair question… because with so many great boutique WA wines on the site, choosing can feel impossible.

The funny thing is, despite having hundreds of bottles to pick from, I still find myself going back to a handful that just hit the spot — wines I’m genuinely enjoying at home and happily recommending every day. So I’m making it easy: below are my current favourites, broken down into rosé, bubbles, white and red.

Best Rosé: Gilberts Rosé 2025

If you like rosé that’s pure fun and dangerously easy to drink, this is it.

Why I love it
🔹 Strawberries and cream to the max
🔹 Soft, gentle acidity (no sharp bite)
🔹 Just… so damn good when you want something refreshing but still flavoursome

How I serve it

  • Properly chilled (but not icy). Leave out of the fridge for 5 minutes before serving

  • Perfect for: prawns, chicken, salads, or “just one glass” that turns into three.

Best Sparkling: Myattsfield Méthode Traditionnelle Rosé

This one is for when you want bubbles, but you want something a little different to the usual sparkling options.

Why I love it
🔹 It’s not your standard “same-same” sparkling
🔹 Has that proper méthode traditionnelle vibe (more depth, more character)
🔹 Great when you want to make an ordinary night feel like a celebration

When I open it

  • Friday night “we survived the week” bubbles

  • Brunch, birthdays, or when someone says “bring something nice”

Best White Wine Right Now: Tripe Iscariot Kroos Chenin Blanc 2023

Choosing my “favourite white” is honestly cruel. We’ve got a ridiculous line-up. But if I have to pick one I keep coming back to, it’s this Chenin.

Why it’s in my favourites
🔹 Chenin is the ultimate food wine (and wildly underrated)
🔹 It’s got that freshness + texture thing going on
🔹 It feels interesting without being hard work

Best with

  • Roast chook, creamy pasta, Thai food, seafood

  • Or just a glass while you cook dinner and pretend you’re on holiday

Best Red Wine for Warm Weather: Castelli Estate Pinot Noir 2023

In the warmer months, my red preference swings hard toward Pinot Noir. I drink a lot of Pinot, and this one has a character I genuinely love.

What I get from it
🔹 Slightly sour cherry (in a good way)
🔹 Spicy, woody, earthy and a bit crunchy
🔹 It’s got personality. It’s not just “smooth red wine”.

Important: serve it cool
This is the game-changer: 16°C.
Not fridge cold. Not room temp in an Aussie summer. Cool. It makes the fruit pop and keeps it super refreshing.

Quick question for you

What are you drinking at the moment?

If you’ve found a bottle you’re loving (from us or anywhere), shoot me an email. I’m always keen to hear what people are into right now
